COMPANY PROFILE
Gary Allen Burns has been in real estate since 1969 and has been the owner and real estate broker of Burns & Associates since 1985. His expertise includes forestry, wildlife, real estate, and timber and timber land taxation, as well as, conservation easements. He has a B.S. in forestry from the University of New Hampshire, an M.S. in forestry (wildlife-emphasis). from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he is currently pursuing doctoral studies. Gary is a registered forester in three states. He is a Certified Forester with the Society of American Foresters (SAF) and has recently been honored as a elected fellow in SAF. He has attended the Texas A&M Outlook for Land Markets regularly where he gets updates on new regulations, trends in the market and networks with other brokers, investors, and lenders. He also received his GRI professional designation in 1987 from the Texas Realtors Institute and is an approved Texas Real Estate Commission MCE Instructor. Gary’s lecture assignments include the A.S.A. International Appraisal Conference in Austin, Texas (2005), Texas A&M (2003), and Stephen F. Austin State University (2007, 2005, 1987-1989). He has published papers in many publications including the “Journal of Forestry,” “Valuation,” “The Consultant”, and “Forest Ecology and Management”.
John Kilian is an agent with Burns & Associates part-time. He has been with the firm for over 5 years. John’s expertise is in forest management, as well as, hands on experience in farming, ranching, and wildlife recreation. His educational background includes Angelina College in Lufkin and Texas A & M University at Commerce. He loves previewing new listings and showing properties to clients. He is also great with GIS and enjoys working with the many computer programs we use in our marketing and valuation of our properties. John’s enthusiastic attitude and knowledge of forestry makes him a great asset to Burns & Associates as an agent.
